At JS Electronics, repair is a key word. Unlike many shops which are nothing more than a shipping center returning products to the manufacturer, we repair down to the individual component. This gives our customers fast turnaround and lower prices.
Here's an example of how our skilled technicians can give faster turnaround than any other radio repair business in the area. After an extensive series of tests and circuit tracing, a Minitor II pager with a faulty audio amplifier is being repaired.
The faulty component is removed from the circuit board by heating all 24 legs with a Thermo-Jet® heating device. It is then simply lifted off the board when the solder becomes molten.
The solder pads are cleaned of old solder and fresh solder is applied in solid or gel form.
The new component is aligned and reflowed using the same Thermo-Jet® heating unit, originally used to remove the faulty IC.
The solder on each of the 24 legs of the IC is touched up under a microscope to assure a quality connection. The board is cleaned, removing any flux and byproducts of heating.
The pager is reassembled and checked for sensitivity, and that all parameters meet published specifications.
